Purpose
To equip selected pupils—particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs—with the skills, confidence, and responsibility to act as wellbeing leaders within their school community. This programme combines practical training in empathy, active listening, and signposting to trusted adults, with opportunities to develop leadership and teamwork skills.
Impact
Pupils gain a sense of pride and purpose, becoming positive role models who help create a more supportive school environment. Hoodies and a celebratory recognition event cement their role and encourage long-term commitment. Involvement from the local community police builds trust, promotes safety, and reinforces the importance of care and responsibility.
Outcome
The Leaders’ Alliance Programme – Example Session
This week’s challenge: plan a wellbeing event for younger pupils. We kick off with an ice-breaker game to get everyone laughing, then dive into leadership skill-building—practising active listening, empathy, and decision-making. Teams create action boards and pitch their ideas to the group. Each member leaves with a small “leadership mission” to complete before the next session, building their confidence step by step.
