These workshops combine guided journaling, creative expression, and discussion to help children explore emotions and develop self-awareness.
Purpose
To develop emotional literacy skills, encourage self-reflection, and build healthy coping strategies through accessible, age-appropriate activities. Each child works on a personal project exploring a chosen theme, with prompts ranging from resilience and kindness to inspiration from song lyrics or popular media.
Impact
Children learn to identify and name feelings, recognise triggers, and practise ways to manage emotional responses. The personal project approach encourages ownership and pride in their work.
Outcome
Improved self-awareness, better communication of emotions, and stronger problem-solving skills when faced with challenges.
Emotional Intelligence & Journalling Workshops – Example Session
We begin with a fun “emoji challenge” to check in on feelings, then explore a prompt like “A time I surprised myself.” Children create illustrated journal pages using pens, stickers, and collage. The focus is on expression without judgement, and each child takes home their page as part of a growing personal journal. A mini “reflection card” offers a simple way to continue the conversation at home.
How many children will be there?
Small group – 4 to 8 children
